Obituary

Hurricane Utah - Neil Christiansen passed away peacefully at home in Hurricane, Utah on January 14, 2026, at age 93 from causes incident to age.

Neil was born at home in Monroe, Utah on July 14, 1932, to Carl and Nettie Bridges Christiansen, the fourth of six children. He graduated from South Sevier High School in June 1950 where he starred in the school play, served as a student body officer, and played trombone in the marching band. As a youth, his hobbies included basketball, baseball, hunting and fishing.

Neil attended Brigham Young University and Branch Agricultural College (now known as SUU), graduating from BYU in 1954, with majors in Biology and Physical Education. He played basketball for both universities and, while at BAC, the team played in the division's national "Final Four." He was also involved in the ROTC program. After graduation, Neil proudly served in the US Air Force as a Commissioned Officer as well as a jet instructor pilot, based out of Laredo, Texas. The T-33 was his favorite aircraft. He loved reminiscing about his adventures in the Air Force including flyovers above the family farm in Monroe.

Neil married Donna June Mitchell in 1960, later divorced. He married Wendy Jane Ashton in 1976, and this year would have marked their 50th wedding anniversary. They spent the majority of their married life in Draper, Utah.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Neil served in leadership roles and completed a full-time mission with Wendy in the Wisconsin Milwaukee Mission.

Neil's career was in outdoor advertising (billboards) for decades. He and Wendy built a successful business – Christiansen Outdoor Advertising, formerly Sign-Up.

Together, Neil and Wendy created a beautiful cabin at Manning Meadows on Monroe Mountain in Piute County. The cabin has allowed many fun and wonderful family experiences and is a family legacy that, thankfully, survived last summer's Monroe Mountain wildfire.

In their later years, Neil and Wendy relocated to Southern Utah, where they could enjoy the sunshine, ATV riding, and a lot of golf. At the age of 87, Neil made a hole in one on hole #8 at his beloved Sky Mountain Golf Course!

Neil will truly be missed, but there is joy in having known and loved a man who lived such a great life and who was such a wonderful example of integrity, kindness, patience, hard work and devotion to family. He loved reading and learning, especially about American history and Church history and enjoyed reading and studying scriptures and collecting coins.

Neil is survived by his loving wife Wendy J. Christiansen, and children: Jed (Shelly) Olsen, Steve (DeeDee) Christiansen, Ronald (Lisa) Christiansen, Karen (Steven) Daniels, Jeffery Olsen, Justin (Julie) Olsen, Eric (Lori) Christiansen, Kathy (Justin) Birrell, and Kelli (Brian) Washburn. Siblings: Lynn Christiansen, DeMont Christiansen, and Carl Christiansen. 38 grandchildren, and 45 great-grandchildren.

Proceeded in death by: Parents, Carl and Nettie Christiansen, siblings: Nola Madsen and Odell Christiansen, Daughter-in-law: Tamara Olsen Grandson: Griffin Olsen.
