Obituary

St George - Neldon A. Frandsen, age 83, was born on August 28, 1939, in Cache County, Utah. He was reunited with the love of his life, and eternal companion, on February 14, 2023, when he completed his mortal ministry in Ivins, Utah. His parents are Ellen Grace Atkinson and Nelse Frandsen. He was sealed to his sweetheart of 52 years, Thomasina Rosalie Rees, on June 11, 1965, in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Neldon was raised on a farm on which their family's sustenance was dependent and was often found working on neighboring farms as a favor and sometimes for employment. Needless to say, he had a magic green thumb; in fact, he was known in his community for producing the fattest, reddest, juiciest tomatoes and he would generously share them with everyone.

Beginning in his teenage years he became an avid game hunter and as an adult, he and his brother, Chuck, made it an annual ritual to hunt in Colorado, Wyoming, or Utah. Sports were among his favorite pastimes, especially baseball and basketball. As a young father, he coached youth basketball to include Richard, his son.

He was a lifetime employee of Associated Food for 46 years. He had received a jacket with his name on it as a safety award. He wore that jacket with pride till the very end. As a part time job, he worked on Bateman's Farm in West Jordan. After high school he served a 2-year proselyting Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Palmyra, New York. Upon his returning home he met Rosalie on a blind date and then began his 4-year tour in Alaska for the United States Army. After the service he and Rosalie married and raised three children.

He is survived by son, Richard Nelse Frandsen (Connie) West Jordan, Ut; daughters: Rose Irene Behunin (Jaron) and Nalene Frandsen St George, Ut; brother, Charles Ramon Frandsen (Alice) Cerritos, California; and grandchildren: Amanda Romero (Jared), Cortnie, CJ, Troy, Sadie, Brittny, Hayden and Zachary. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ellen Grace Atkinson; father, Nelse Frandsen; five brothers; eight sisters; and a grandson, Mathew Feldt.

He showed interest and love toward everyone and those that called him friend knew they were his best friend. His loving presence will be missed, but the time when he will be reunited with his family is greatly anticipated.

The family will hold a viewing on Thursday, February 23, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Boulevard, St. George, Utah.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
