St. George, UT - Nellie Matheson Hirschi Bauer, age 82, passed away on January 25, 2011 at Dixie Regional Medical Center of a massive stroke. She went peacefully to our loving Lord and Savior. She was born on February 5, 1928 in Parowan, Utah and was the youngest of 12 children born to David and Elizabeth Mickelson Matheson. On December 25, 1949 she married Arden K. Hirschi from Rockville, Utah and together they raised four wonderful daughters. After Ardens death, she married Edwin Bud Bauer in January of 2000. Nellie was truly a beautiful lady inside and out. She loved her family and her home. She was a fabulous cook specializing in home-made bread and roast beef. She had many other talents, but the greatest of all was her ability to love and care for others. She has many grandchildren and step-grandchildren who loved and cherished her. She will be missed greatly and will always be remembered lovingly by all. Nellie is survived by her husband, Edwin Bauer; her children: Suzanne Hirschi McConnell, Elizabeth Hirschi Edmunds, Janell Hirschi Thorpe and Jill Hirschi Baker; her step-children: Connie Thaller, Sharon Hilley, Pam Finn, and Russ Bauer; and brother Victor Matheson. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 31, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, UT. Visitations will be held on Sunday, January 30 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Rockville Cemetery.
