WASHINGTON, UTAH - After a short battle with cancer, Noel John Schroeder went to meet his Savior on Friday, June 29, 2012. He was born in Niagara Falls, New York on January 26, 1932, and soon went home from the hospital with his parents, Henry and Elsa Schroeder. Noel was baptized and attended Holy Cross Lutheran School in Bergholtz, New York through 8th Grade. After grade school he went away from home to Concordia Preparatory School in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. His intention was to become a Pastor in the Lutheran Church. However, the Lord led him in a different direction and when it came time for college he continued his studies at Concordia Teacher College in River Forest, Illinois. His Masters Degree was from Central Michigan University. Noel spent 43 years teaching middle grades their secular studies, but more important to him was that he also taught them about their Savior, Jesus Christ. Most of his teaching career was at St. John Lutheran Church and School in Rogers City, Michigan. He also taught in Minnesota, Missouri, Colorado, and North Dakota. On July 14, 1957 he married Phyllis Kraft at Grace Lutheran Church in Fargo, North Dakota. Together they raised four wonderful children. Music was a great love of his, and he served as Music Director, Choirmaster, and Organist in the schools and churches that he served. He played organ for over 50 years, and it was his relaxation in his retirement. In 2007 he and Phyllis moved to Washington, Utah, where he enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the area and especially hiking some of the many trails. He was still hiking the desert in back of the house until the end of April. His appetite left him, but recently he commented to a friend that although he doesnt have an appetite now, just think of the "Feast in Heaven!" He leaves behind his wife, Phyllis; sons: Steven (Marci) of Belle Plains, Minnesota and David of Reno, Nevada; daughters: Debra (Alan) Martin of Fairfield, Iowa and Stephanie (Dale) Marvin of Mariottsville, Maryland; and six grandchildren: Vanessa, Nolan, Torbjor, Danika Schroeder, Alia Martin, and Charlie Marvin. Those who went before him are his parents; brother, Carl Schroeder; nephew, Kenneth Schroeder; sister-in-law, Judy Kerr; and in-laws, Lawrence and Erna Kraft. "God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life," John 3:16.
