ST. GEORGE, UTAH - Noll Gray Thompson passed away November 13, 2010. He was born April 5, 1919 in Durham, North Carolina to Alson E. and Eleanore Temple Thompson. He married Allice M. Saunders on February 10, 1946. They were happily married for 64 years. Noll grew up in Gary, Indiana and worked at the CCC Camp during the Depression. In 1941, Noll enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served as Chief Aerographers Mate aboard the USS Roosevelt Aircraft Carrier. Noll was honorably discharged in 1947. He graduated from USC in 1951 with a Bachelors Degree in English. He taught the Fifth Grade at Grove Avenue Elementary School in Paramount, CA for one year. He then worked for Westinghouse for over ten years. Noll also worked as a Credit Manager for Bedline Manufacturing and as an Independent Credit Consultant. Noll enjoyed acting in the Downey Childrens Theater and was an active leader in the Downey Y.M.C.A. He also served as Director of the Downey Museum of Art. Nolls artistic ability was part of his legacy. In 1989, he retired and they moved to Las Vegas, NV, and then in 2007, they moved to St. George, Utah. He is survived by his wife, Allice Thompson; son, Wyly Thompson (Denise); six grandchildren: Tony Araiza (Liana), Cindy Descoteaux (Jason), Joseph Thompson, Michael Thompson, Lyndzee Polkey and Danielle Strubel and seven great-grandchildren. Noll was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Chanda Thompson. Graveside services will be held Friday, November 19, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at the Tonaquint Cemetery, St. George, Utah.
