Milford, UT - Orpha Leone Nelson, 100-Years-Old, died October 9, 2009. In 2008, she celebrated her 100th birthday and was honored by the Century Club of Utah. She was born to John Earnest Nelson and Minnie Bathsheba Adamson Nelson on November 17, 1908 in Pleasant Grove, Utah, and was one of nine children. She graduated from Delta High School, and married Charles F. Nelson on November 7, 1928. Orpha and Charles lived in many cities and towns across the state of Utah, and traveling was one of her favorite activities. With her tour group, she visited most of Europe, Mexico and Cuba, and her favorite destination was Hawaii. She belonged to the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Orpha was best known for her hard work, sense of humor, and kindness. She had three children; Jay E. Nelson, and preceded in death by two of them, Charles Elroy Nelson, and Janice M. Nelson. She had five grandchildren; Carol Krager, Mark Nelson, Lisa Carter, Leslie Carman, and Jenny Jennings. She also had 11 great grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. We wish to thank the Milford Valley Memorial Hospital Staff for the exceptional care they provided to Orpha. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Milford Valley Memorial Hospital long term care unit. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. George City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W.
