Obituary

Santa Clara, Utah- It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Patricia Gail Callahan. Patricia returned to our Heavenly Father on July 5, 2015 and her passing is deeply felt by her family. Patricia is survived by her eternal companion Richard and their four children: Scott (Christina), Amber (John), Matthew (Rebekah), and Autumn (James). She will be intensely missed by her fifteen grandchildren: James, Natalie, Demetrious, Emilie, Conan, Maria, Day, Abigail, Matthew, Sophia, Thomas, Nya, David, Lorenzo, and Elizabeth. She also leaves behind her sister Earlene (Terry), as well as Richard's remaining siblings including many nieces and nephews. Patricia was born March 13, 1946 in California. Growing up she was a neighbor to Richard Callahan whom later became her best friend and husband for 50 years. They raised their family in Chula Vista, California, where she was involved with many church callings, PTA, Inner Wheel and much more. Patricia was the force behind Richard and his community involvement including the Chamber of Commerce and Rotary. Patricia was known for endorsing political candidates and providing her home as a venue for fundraising. Patricia owned a local business in Chula Vista, The Quilting Bee, and taught quilting at her store and through the local adult education extension programs. Although Patricia prized quilting and the beauty a needle could wield, her first love was her husband and family. She enjoyed making her house our home and we feel her presence in the warmth her home radiates and the memories she created with each of us. Mom LOVED the holidays and her home reflected the seasons with décor and the smells bubbling out of her kitchen. She was always baking and enjoyed delivering treats to neighbors and friends. Mom was known for her cards. She made all of us feel special and remembered on birthdays, holidays, or just because she thought we needed to be uplifted. Her cards would include a personal thought and encouragement. Patricia was her husband's, children's and grandchildren's biggest cheerleader. She thought we could do anything as long as we were willing to work hard. The last few years of Patricia's life, her mortal body could not keep up with her spunky spirit. She handled her pain and imperfections with grace and class. We feel very blessed that Heavenly Father allowed us sixty-nine years with her. We are thankful for eternal families and know we will see our beautiful mother on the other side. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Santa Clara LDS Ward Chapel, 3815 West Rachel Drive, Santa Clara, Utah.
