Obituary

St. George, Utah – Patricia Doreen Olson, 90, passed away peacefully, while asleep in her home, to be with our Lord on October 16, 2023. She was born July 7, 1933, in National City, California to DeVere Cutler and Alma Ruth Graff Cutler. She met her future husband, Ronald Olson in high school in 1950, and they were married in Yuma, Arizona on July 12, 1952.

At the time of Pat's birth her father was in the U.S. Navy and stationed in San Diego, California. He fulfilled his enlistment in 1934, and they moved to the Los Angeles area. She went to school through the 5th grade while there, and in 1945 the family moved to El Monte, California where she completed her education through high school. She and her husband rented and lived in El Monte until 1958 at which time they bought their first house in West Covina, California. They lived in that house for 35 years before moving to St. George, Utah in 1993.

Pat was a stay-at-home mom which allowed her to pursue her love for bowling and be able to bowl in women's morning leagues. Her other hobbies were knitting and crocheting, and she crocheted blankets as gifts for family and friends. She loved traveling in the motor home and, in her younger years, riding dirt bikes in the California deserts. She enjoyed paperback novels and always had a book going. She was a wonderful cook and would make gift baskets of candy and cookies for friends and family at Christmas time. Her once or twice a year specialty was Lefse, which everyone would devour at the holiday table. For many years she would make packages of Lesfe as added gifts to family and friends, which was always welcomed with joy.

Pat did not embrace any religious beliefs after the age of sixteen until late in life when she accepted our Lord as her Savior to become a Christian. She loved to watch the streamed Sunday service from Southland Bible Church.

Pat is survived by her husband, Ronald; son, Bruce (Phyllis) of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren with one on the way; adopted daughter, Yvette Vagle of Apex, North Carolina; sister, Lynda (George) McClure of St. George; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her youngest child, a daughter Tracy; her eldest child, a son, Cris; parents, DeVere and Alma; sister, Sylvia Rosacker; and brother, Arthur.

The family wishes to thank Intermountain Homecare and Hospice nurses and aides: Kandy, Ruth, Carly, Sofia, Kilie, Tracy, Autumn and Chaplin Kirk. They were all so pleasant, gentle, and caring and treated Pat like a Queen.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held Saturday, prior to services, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Mortuary. Interment will be in the Santa Clara City Cemetery, 950 Ancestor Way, Santa Clara, Utah.
