Washington, Utah - Patricia S. Stapley, 83, returned home to her Savior Jesus Christ on November 4, 2023 in Washington, Utah with her husband Joseph E Stapley by her side. Patricia "Pat" was born in Delta, Utah to Anthony William and Erma Bishop Stephenson on December 7, 1939. Pat married Joseph E Stapley on June 9 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple where they were sealed for time and all eternity. They were the parents of three children, Teresa Anne, Bradley Dean, and Bret Alan.
At the tender age of 8 months old her parents moved to Cedar City, Utah where she grew up. Pat was badly injured at the age of 5 yrs old in an accident when hit by a car. Pat recovered and was active in school activities including marching as the drum majorette for the band. Pat graduated from Cedar City High School in 1957, after which she studied at the College of Southern Utah for one year.
After one year of college, Patricia married Joseph E. Stapley and began a career of family raising, living in Salt Lake City and Logan Utah, and then 33 years in California, with the final 22 years in a small town in the Eastern Sierra. Pat began working when her children were all in school and spent the last several years with the Bank of America.
In 1994, Patricia retired with her husband and moved to St George, Utah, which served as a base for travel in the Stapley fifth wheel, a mission in Baltimore Maryland, and finally retirement to a restful place in St George.
Patrica was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving faithfully in many callings, including Relief Society President.
Patricia is survived by her husband, Joseph E. Stapley; three children: Teresa Anne (Andrew Mitchell), Bradley Dean (Donna), and Bret Alan; and brother, John Stephenson. She claims 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be on Friday, November 17, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd, St. George, UT. A visitation will be held the day of the funeral at the same location from 8:45-9:45a.m. Interment will be in Cedar City, Utah at the Cedar City Cemetery.
