IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paul Robert
"Bob" Herpin
August 16, 1929 – March 9, 2026
Paul Robert Herpin was born in Lafayette in 1929. He lived a life of dedication filled with humor and lots of love. Paul retained his charming honey Louisiana accent to the end on March 9, 2026. Paul served in Korea with the Army in 1951. Upon return he proudly worked for over 32 years with the Compton Police Dept. During that time, in 1958 Paul met his lovely wife, Bette Halverson.
Retirement inspired the two to move to St. George, Utah. But no, retirement did not appeal to Paul. He went back to work as a Probation Officer with the Utah Juvenile Dept for the next 22 years. He was very proud of the Community Service Work Program he developed for the kids in the system. He loved those kids and they loved him back.
Paul also dearly loved his family, his dogs, his Harley Davidson (which he didn't stop riding until he was 89), horses, hunting, and was an active conversationalist via social media keeping everyone entertained with silly, loving and humorous reels and posts.
Paul is survived by his wife, Bette of 61 years; son, Greg (Maria "Lil Gal"); grandchildren: Zerrik, Ezra, Laela, Jude, and Chihiro. His son, Paul Craig, has long been awaiting him.
Dispatch to all units, this is the final call for Detective Paul R. Herpin, badge 57. Detective Herpin served with honor and dedication. 10-7 for the last time. Rest in Peace, sir.
Watch Out Heaven, Paul is the ultimate jokester AND He has hours upon hours of stories!
