Obituary

St. George, Utah - Paul passed away peacefully on Friday, February 25, 2011. Paul C. Carter was born on September 22, 1930 in Dayton, Ohio to Ira Norman Carter and Mamie Smith Carter. He served six years in the Army National Guard during the Korean War. In June 1953, he married Loretta Berry and started a family. He is survived by three children: Pamela L. Asadi, Kristina Caliva and Jibril (Evan Carter) Rashid; also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He lived in Dayton, Ohio until 1957 when he was recruited by the Boeing Aircraft Company in Seattle, Washington where he worked for 35 years. After living in Seattle for many years, he was later divorced. On October 1, 1979, Paul married Grettle Owen Hansen (Ferwerda). They were later sealed in the Seattle LDS Temple on October 4, 1980. Paul is survived by Grettle and her six children: Drew Ferwerda (wife, Joni), Evan Ferwerda, Todd Ferwerda, Tyce Ferwerda (wife, Debra), Lani Kay Cleverly (husband, Derek) and Leslie Ferwerda; and by 23 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Everyone will miss their father/ Grandpa Paul/their Woggy . There will be an Open House held Thursday, March 3, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Crystal Lakes Club House, 150 South Crystals Lakes Drive (Sunbrook area). All are welcome. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 4, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at the Green Valley LDS 8th Ward Chapel, 511 South Valley View Drive, St. George, Utah. Interment willbe heldprior to services on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Tonaquint Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, 435-673-4221.
