St. George, UT - Paul Fredrick Johnson passed away on August 14, 2010 of Mesothelioma surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 31, 1924 to William M. and Lillie C. Johnson in Ishpeming, Michigan. Dad proudly and honorably served in the Navy during WWII, in the South Pacific. He was a wonderful inspiration and example to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Dad was a religious, moral, and truly honest gentleman who was among the last of the greatest generation. He married our mom, Lamar, on August 23, 1956. He loved to fish, golf, garden, playing bingo and especially traveling with his family. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Lamar, his parents and brother Don. He is survived by his daughters, Pearl Basil, Bianca May (Stan), son, Jay Johnson (Gail), two grandsons, Steven Basil and Jason Spilka, brother, Ken Johnson (Chris) and extended family. He fought with courage to the end for the sake of his family who was the center of his life. We would like to thank Intermountain Hospice care (Denise and Melissa) for their kindness, they are definitely angels among us. Also, thanks to Dr. Mercado and Dr. Paradela for taking such good care of him. A memorial service will be Monday, August 23, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. at First Southern Baptist Church, 326 South 600 East, St. George, Utah. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221. His final resting place will be in Milwaukee, next to his wife who has waited almost ten years for him to come home. We will miss you dad, you will always be in our hearts.
