LaVerkin, UT - Ralph Adolph Anderson passed away April 21, 2010. He was born to Gustave and Vergie Spratley Anderson in American Fork, Utah on 26 June 1931. He graduated from American Fork High School in 1949. He married Lois Straughn in 1952. Ralph served eight years in the Utah National Guard, 1457th Engineers. He worked for US Steel, Geneva Works in Orem for 37 years. After retirement from US Steel, he relocated to southern Utah and worked for S&S Steel in Hurricane. After working for S&S Steel seven years, he retired a second time. Ralph volunteered for the Hurricane Senior Center, driving meals on wheels and calling for their weekly Bingo , making many friends there. He also volunteered for RSPV in St. George, Dixie College, Eccles Center and many community events. He joined Laborers for Christ which took him to seven states helping build schools and churches and to the campus of Concordia University in Chicago four times to work on campus. Ralph found this to be a pleasant experience mingling with the students and attending their many events. Returning home he continued volunteer work for RSVP and the Hurricane Senior Center. Ralph was extremely thoughtful and caring, offering assistance to those in need. He loved his family. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought him much happiness and joy throughout his life. Ralph was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in St. George, Utah. He is survived by his wife, Lois of 57 years; daughter, Carolyn (Neal) Bennett of Alpine, UT; son, Danny (Debbie) Anderson of Lehi, UT; three nieces; two nephews; six grandchildren: Tiffany, Mandy, Abigail, Shaun, Katie and Tara; and eleven great-grandchildren. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters: Edna, Edith, and Mary. The family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation to Intermountain Health Care and Hospice and to Kaye, Melissa, Ruth, Denise, Ariel, Judy and Linda for their loving care. Memorial services will be held Monday, April 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hurricane Valley Mortuary Chapel, 140 N. Main St., Hurricane, Utah. Gatherings will be held Sunday, April 25th from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Monday at 10:30 a.m. prior to services, both at the mortuary. Graveside services are tentatively planned for June 26, 2010 at American Fork City Cemetery, American Fork, Utah.
