Hurricane, Utah – Rusty Richards, 69, passed away April 5, 2024. He was born January 28, 1955, in Stockton, California to Florence Gentile and Richard Richards.

Rusty grew up in a Military home and had fond memories of time spent in California with his grandma and of living in Hawaii. He spent his high school years in Bremerton, Washington. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard.

Rusty loved to hunt, golf, fish and play guitar and spent his life actively sharing these activities with his children and grandchildren. He was dedicated to his service in the U.S. Coast Guard and retired as a Chief Petty Officer in 1999, with over 24 years of active service.

Rusty loved his children and grandchildren. He loved telling them stories of his Coast Guard days.

Rusty is survived by his son, Joshua Richards of Albany, Oregon; daughter, Jessica Richards of Hurricane, Utah; seven grandchildren; and two sisters. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeremy; and grandchildren, Marley and Macey.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 12, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held Friday, prior to services, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Mortuary. Interment will be in the Hurricane City Cemetery, 255 East 600 North, Hurricane, Utah.
