St. George, Utah - RaNae Johnson Stewart passed away August 9, 2013 at her home in St. George, Utah at the age of 95. RaNae was born December 9, 1917 in Spanish Fork, Utah to Icelandic parents Einar and Maggie Johnson. She was raised in the close-knit Icelandic community there and was a proud Icelander.
RaNae married Wayne J. Stewart on December 29, 1936 and they had a long and loving marriage (60 years). Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in Southern California and raised their two sons, W. Jay and Allan Stewart; and also two grandsons, Michael and Kevin Stewart When they retired, they moved to St. George.
RaNae was preceded in death by her two brothers, three sisters and her husband, Wayne. She is survived by her sons; six grandchildren: Michael, Kevin, Dana, Rebecca: and Casey Stewart and Troy and Carrie Tanner; and seven great-grandchildren: Brittany, Nicholas and Kallie Stewart: Riley, Braden and Collin Tanner and Cody Cuvillier. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
RaNae was a devoted and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was known as a generous, kind friend and neighbor.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bloomington Hills LDS 5 th Ward Chapel, 1130 East Brigham Road, St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held Friday at the Chapel from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will follow at the St. George City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
