She was born on October 9, 1956 to Iva Joyce and Vernie Charles Smith in Snyder, Texas. She was the oldest of three children. She was a graduate of Cooper High School where she excelled academically. She married the love of her life, Ray Mackelprang of Cedar City, Utah on December 29, 1976 and they were sealed in the St. George Temple in 1979. They have two daughters, Brinlee Kristen and McKenna Shay, and later became grandparents to her two beautiful grandchildren, Kimber Rae and Zadie Lynn that she was completely devoted to.

She was an avid reader and loved to learn, she recently graduated from Dixie State University with her Associates of Science Degree and planned to continue her education.

Becky had the sweetest heart the size of Texas. She had a passion for animals and rescued many over the years. The latest rescue being a tiny newborn kitten that she had to hand feed. She had to take him everywhere, including work and on several vacations, that was the kind of animal lover she was. She loved to travel with her family, especially her husband Ray, and had an adventurous spirit. She also loved music and took several trips with her sister to attend concerts.

She was a selfless Christian that had a close relationship with her Savior. She was a wonderful example of service to her friends and neighbors. She was a devoted, loyal friend, a hard worker and a happy positive soul.

She is preceded in death by both sets of grandparents; her mother and father; her mother and father-in-law; a sister-in-law; 3 brothers-in-law; and several aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her husband, Ray; daughters: Brinlee, McKenna and husband Adam; granddaughters: Kimber and Zadie; sister, Sharee and husband Roy Haile; brother, Darrin Day; her Aunt Jerry, Uncle Wade, Aunt Bea and many close cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be so missed until we meet again.

The following was written by her 8-year-old granddaughter, Zadie: She was so strong. I love her so, so much. She was so artistic. She is watching over us in heaven. She was so positive, and she was a very happy person. We all love her so much. I was so so sad to hear she died, my heart started to melt.
