Obituary

St. George, Utah – Renae Putnam returned home to her Heavenly Father and to the loved ones who were waiting for her with open arms on Sunday, June 15, 2025.

Renae was born in Sterling, Idaho, on September 19, 1932, to Thomas Henry Jones and Delila Porter. She was the youngest of nine children. Growing up on the family farm, she learned the values of hard work, faith, and family. She loved helping her brothers and sisters in the fields, and when the chores were done, they filled their home with laughter and love - something she would carry with her throughout her life.

Renae graduated from West High School in Salt Lake City. She married the love of her life, Ralph Dee Putnam, and they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple on March 24, 1950. Together, they built a home centered on faith, love, and service, and were blessed with eight children: Dee (Bobbie) Putnam, Gordon (Margaret) Putnam, Patricia Putnam, Byron (Suzanne) Putnam, Julie (Randy) Green, Karen (Darwin) Perkins, Tom (Jeanette) Putnam, and Heather (Mick) Barton.

Renae devoted her life to her family and to the gospel. Her children and grandchildren were the joy of her life, and she gave of herself endlessly to ensure they always felt loved, supported, and safe. Her home was a place of warmth, comfort, and the smell of home-cooked meals—where everyone knew they were welcome.

After Ralph's passing, Renae chose to continue their shared legacy of service by serving a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her testimony and love for the gospel were constants throughout her life and an anchor for her family.

She had a quiet strength, a deep well of faith, and a gentle kindness that touched all who knew her. Whether it was through a thoughtful note, a tender hug, or simply sitting and listening, Renae had a way of making you feel deeply loved and understood.

Renae was preceded in death by her husband Ralph; daughters: Patricia and Heather; son, Tom; granddaughter, Erin Vincent; grandson, Michael Barton; her parents; and her eight siblings. She is survived by her children: Dee, Gordon, Byron, Julie, and Karen; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and countless others whose lives she influenced for good.

Renae's legacy is one of unwavering love, faith-filled living, and a life beautifully devoted to her family and the Lord. We love you, Mom—and until we meet again, we'll carry your light in our hearts.
