Santa Clara, Utah - Rex Oral Daugherty passed away April 23, 2011, after a short but courageous battle with Lung Cancer. He was born August 20, 1938 to Jack and Norene Daugherty in Fairview, Wyoming. Because of his fathers occupation of supervising road construction, he moved to different cities and states. It was during one of the moves that he met and married Doris Gubler. They had two children, Cameron and Kellie. They lived in Salt Lake City, Ogden and returned to Santa Clara in 1994. Rex followed in his fathers footsteps working in road construction until he became a Business Manager with Local 3, Operating Engineers. Rex enjoyed working with heavy equipment and all types of machinery including his cars. Rex loved animals, but didnt find his true passion of horses until he retired. He and Doris spent many wonderful hours riding the hills of Southern Utah. Rex is survived by his daughter, Kellie; brothers: John (Dorene) Daugherty and Dennis (Carmen) Daugherty; sister, Kathy Siskin; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris; and son, Cameron. The family would like to thank Darryl Hafen and Dennis Mitchell (Bishop of Santa Clara 1st Ward) who were his long time friends and who were always there when Rex needed help and The Alliance Hospice team for their support and excellent care. Per Rexs wishes he will be cremated at the time of his passing. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at the Santa Clara LDS 1st Ward Chapel located at 3040 West Santa Clara Drive. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in honor of Rex to The American Cancer Society or The No Kill Animal Shelter at any local Zions Bank.
