St.George, UT - Rhea Grace Horrocks, 76, was suddenly taken ill with pneumonia the middle of December and passed away peacefully on December 26, 2013 in St. George, Utah. She was born on November 8, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Allen Edgar Barton and Davida Lavon Clawson in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was their only child. She was raised in Berkeley, California where she graduated from high school. She attended Diablo Valley Junior College and received an AA Degree in Library Science. She met Robert Rulon Horrocks through the LDS Fraternity at the UC Berkeley Institute. He was a Mechanical Engineer for Shell Oil Company in Martinez California. They were married on June 23, 1956 at the Claremont Hotel, and moved into an apartment in Walnut Creek, California. Later that year they bought a home in the suburb town of Concord where they lived for 37 years. They raised their family of four boys and one girl at this home. Rhea was a homemaker and mother and was happy to put all her efforts into her family. She loved reading, doing arts and crafts, crocheting, and sewing. She loved animals, especially cats. Her favorite saying was Cats are just like Potato Chips, you just cant have one. Their family was sealed in the Oakland LDS Temple on May 21, 1973. Mom and Dad retired to St. George in 1993. They loved it in St. George and Mom enjoyed the many trips and travels with Dad and family. Mom had a strong faith in her Heavenly Father and the Gospel. She is a wonderful example for everyone. Dad preceded Mom in death on February 26, 2010. She is survived by her daughter, Lesley (Tom) Kelly; her sons: Bruce (Jennifer) Horrocks, Russell Horrocks, Mark (Sarah) Horrocks, Lawrence R. Horrocks: 12 grandchildren; and 3 great-granddaughters. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Hidden Valley First Chapel, 675 East Desert Hills Drive, Bloomington Hills, Utah. Visitations will be held on Thursday evening, January 2nd, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd. and on Friday, prior to services, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Hidden Valley First Chapel. Interment will be on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Centerville City Cemetery, 650 East 400 South, Centerville, Utah.
