IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rhean
Pendleton
January 5, 1933 – December 30, 2012
Pine Valley, Utah - Rhean Pendleton, 79, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 30, in Pine Valley.
Rhean was born on January 5, 1933, in Hurricane Utah, to Alvin and Ann Pickett Hall - the 7th of 9 children. She married Fred G Pendleton on July 11, 1952, in the St. George Temple.
She spent her youth in Hurricane, and attended Dixie College. After she and Fred married, they moved to Boulder City, Nevada, where they lived for 52 years.
She was active in her community and loved southern Nevada politics. Rhean was an active member of the LDS church, and served in many capacities. She held leadership positions in Relief Society, Activity Committees, Young Women, and was involved in all things musical. She wrote Road Shows, conducted choruses at Youth Festivals, and loved going to Girls Camp. At the age of 51 she graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with a degree in Sociology, and a minor in Social Work.
After Fred's retirement, they built a cabin in Pine Valley, where she spent the last 8 years of her life.
Rhean was a wonderful woman who never knew a stranger and was a champion of the underdog. She lived a life of serving others, and, above all else, loved her family. Now free from an ailing body, she is no doubt working the room on the other side - renewing old acquaintances and making new ones.
She is survived by her husband, Fred, and four children: Burton (Rosemary) Pendleton, Albuquerque, New Mexico; Laurette (Dee) Allen, Newport News, VA; Brooke (Mike) Cowan, Littleton, CO; Grey (Beth) Pendleton, Juneau, AK; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Sisters Alaina Newhart, Beverly McNamara, Lorna Flater; Brothers Roland and Vard Hall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Friday, January 4, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. George LDS North Stake Center, 1784 Diamond Valley Drive, St. George, Utah. Visitations will be held Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah and Friday from 11:30 a.m to 12:30 p.m. prior to services at the Stake Center. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The DOVE Center, 1240 East 100 South, Suite 221 St. George UT 84790
