Ricard Douglas
Jensen
April 2, 1935 – July 3, 2020
Our sweet, kind, and beloved great-grandfather, grandfather, and father, Ricard Douglas Jensen, 85, passed away peacefully in his Santa Clara home while surrounded by loved ones on July 3, 2020.
Rick was born in Manti, Utah April 2, 1935 to parents Richard A. Jensen and Mildred A. Lowry. He was one six sons having five brothers: Raymond, Kay, Merrill, Paul, and Jack. He was raised on the Jensen Family farm in Sterling, Utah.
Rick married GarFaye Curtis October 9, 1953. They were later sealed in the St. George Temple on November 8, 2014. Rick was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, receiving his temple blessings in that same year. They had 6 children: Kathy, Norman, Michael, John, Brenda, and Jacqueline.
Rick graduated from Manti High School. He worked for 7-Eleven managing and auditing stores for 15 years. He later, in life, had his own business, Desert Dwelling, managing his own residential properties and then later managed commercial properties.
With his work he spent time in Salt Lake, UT, Arizona, and then finally Santa Clara, UT. He was known as an extremely hard worker. Over the years his children and grandchildren had many opportunities to work with him.
Rick was very generous to others and mindful of those in need, especially his family members helping them anyway he could. For many years he also supported several missionaries in his home ward.
Rick had many things he enjoyed in life. For many years he would build custom furniture in his woodshop. His favorite being tables made from stone and stucco. He was even recognized for his work in a local newspaper.
Rick enjoyed cars with his favorite being the later generation BMW Mini Cooper S. He owned many different versions over the years and always had one in his garage. He also had a love of movies and music. He took great pride in having a nice media room and when visiting you would spend many hours with him watching a movie or listening to music.
Rick also enjoyed his yard. He was always known to have an immaculate yard which incorporated his own unique tastes in landscaping. His Santa Clara home backyard backed the Lava Flow trail. For many years trail goers enjoyed his backyard landscaping. He had a mixture of various plants, pots, statues, figurines, lava rock cairns, chimes, and wind spinners.
Rick is survived by two of his daughters and their spouses, Kathy Jensen Nageli (Mike) and Brenda Jensen Montoya (Tom). He is also survived by his brothers: Raymond, Merrill, and Jack. His posterity included 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Rick is preceded in death by parents, Richard and Mildred, his sweet wife, GarFaye Curtis, his daughter, Jacqueline, his sons: Norman, Michael, and John, and his brothers: Kay and Paul.
The family would like to thank the personnel of Senior Helpers and Dixie Hospice, who have become friends, for their loving care of Rick and making it possible for him to stay and pass at his home in Santa Clara, UT.
Private viewing will be held in Sterling, UT with graveside services held at the Manti City Cemetery.
