Obituary

St. George, Utah - Richard Dee Wallis passed away September 7, 2011. He was born August 19, 1935 in St. George, Utah, the first of ten children born to Fergus Gascoin and Grace Larson Wallis. He married Elizabeth Louise "Betty" Wright on July 27, 1960. Together they had one beautiful daughter, Lisa Louise Wallis and three sons: Richard Aaron Wallis, Fergus Gordon Wallis and Patrick Sean Wallis. After Betty passed away, he married Cheryl Taylor in 2004, she preceded him in death.

Richard was raised in St. George and worked on the family dairy and was as a Rancher. He was also a truck driver for many years. Richard served during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany.

Richard is survived by his children; 11 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Barbara (Roy) Irvine, Louise (Roger) Bohman, Dean (Marilyn) Wallis; Peggy Wagner, Helen Lundgren, Stanley (Bree) Wallis; Virginia Wallis and Gai (Rick) Hess. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leon Kent Wallis.

Richard meant so much to so many through his love and presence, that his spirit will live forever within our hearts.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held Saturday, prior to services at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at the St. George City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
