Robert Lee Chavira, age 58, died Saturday morning, September 1, 2012 surrounded by his loving children and family. Born March 25, 1954, in Bingham, Utah to the late Rudolph and Alice T. Chavira, he was the youngest of 8 children.
Bob will be remembered for his unparalleled love of life. He had a contagious laugh and ability to find humor in every situation. He had a passion for traveling, and particularly enjoyed being near the ocean. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life. Though he passed on before his time, his legacy will live in the hearts of the many who knew and loved him.
He spent 24 years as a custom home painter. He then switched careers to pursue his dream of working with youth, where he hoped to inspire and change the lives of others. He enjoyed the past 16 years as a Youth Supervisor at Eagle Ranch Academy, where he developed many lifelong and fulfilling relationships.
Survived by his 6 children, their respective spouses, and 11 grandchildren, who will carry on his appreciation and love for the little things in life.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. Friends and family may call Saturday, prior to services, at 10:00 a.m. at Metcalf Mortuary. Luncheon will follow services. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
