Air Force Korean War veteran, loving husband, adventurer, father, businessman, Robert Frederick Cook, age 84, passed away February 21, 2016 in Ivins, Utah
Bob was born June 1931 in Niles, Michigan. Before joining the U.S. Air Force and becoming one of the few mechanics qualified to work on the then new F-80 Shooting Star and the F-86 Sabre jet aircraft, he was a champion Golden Gloves Boxer.
Following his tour in Korea, Bob met the love of his life for 48 years, Gloria Ahern, while stationed at Davis Monthan AFB, Ariz. Together they enjoyed poetry, music, animals, sports, and the great American West.
Bob left the Air Force to pursue a career in sales, winning multiple top sales awards. He ventured out as an entrepreneur, opening his own appliance store in New Mexico, before moving to Salt Lake City where he retired after working as a security guard for Guardsmark Corp.
He is survived by his brother, John of Sturgis of Michigan; sister, Ruth Ann (McDonald) of Cedar City, Utah; four children: Christopher of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Mark of Franklin of Tennessee, Heather (Lindsey) of Atlanta, Georgia, Courtenay (Mitchell) of St. George, Utah; twelve grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Friday, February 26, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at the Camp Williams Veteran's Cemetery in Bluffdale, Utah.
