Obituary

On December 15, 2025, Robert James Haycock, our devoted husband, father, and grandpa passed away of natural causes. He was born July 29th, 1936, the first child of James J. and Bernice Rankin Haycock. He later became a big brother to his siblings Gary & Joyce. The family lived on Somerby Street in west Salt Lake for several years. They then moved to Holladay and lived on Holladay Blvd for many more years. Bob went to Olympus High the first year it opened and graduated from West High School. Bob grew up with a lot of friends and had fun with his buddies buying junky old cars, fixing them up and playing demolition derby in the fields behind his house.  He married Carol Graham, April 19, 1957 (later sealed in the St. George temple), and together they raised four daughters. He worked for Utah Poultry, Coca Cola Bottling Co. and retired from Consolidated Freightways after 30 years.  He was a generous man and was known for putting his family first. Most memorably, he would drive his motorhome to work so his daughters could take his beloved Ford Bronco to school. A sacrifice that was made without complaint, though not without the occasional amused remark. It was just one of the many ways he showed his love. He spent a good portion of his life waiting patiently (and sometimes not so patiently) for his wife & four daughters to be ready when going somewhere. Though he disliked being late, he mastered the art of waiting, usually with a look that said everything without saying a word. Bob loved the outdoors. He was a professional archer & loved to bow hunt with family & friends & kickback while sitting around the campfire. He was instrumental in forming Beehive Wasatch Bowhunters, a club that he and his wife were very active in for many years. They are currently honorary members of the club. Dad worked hard and he played hard, and family was his top priority. Summers were spent with his wife, daughters and other family members either camping, hunting, fishing or at the Bear Lake family property where he taught his daughters to water ski.  While on fishing trips Dad rarely got to fish as his time was spent baiting his daughter's hooks and untangling their snags.

Bob and Carol raised their family in Taylorsville and after retirement moved to St. George where they took up golf, four wheeling and spending time with their newfound friends.

Dad left an impression that will continue in the hearts of others. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife Carol and 4 daughters: Robbie Kelley (Robert), Lori Culverwell (Taryn), Julie Jeppsen (Dave) and Janet Martinez (Carlos). They have 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

A warm and special thanks to Applegate Hospice for their tender care of Dad, Mom, and us girls during this sad time. He especially loved & trusted Nurse Karey and her gentle and honest care for him. He looked forward to his fun loving, Music therapist Janessa who helped him recall & share many special memories from his life. Special thanks also to Sheri, Janice & Shalaine for their tender care of him & our family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date
