IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Dewey
Pugsley
May 13, 1948 – January 21, 2012
St. George, UT - On January 21, 2012 we lost a son, brother, uncle and friend. Bob was born on May 13, 1948, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Dewey and Barbara Pugsley. He spent his childhood happily riding his bike and playing sports and swimming. He enjoyed scouts and always had a soft spot for dogs. Bob could hardly wait for pheasant season to begin because he was able to spend time with his father and brothers.
During the late summer of 1963 he moved with his family to Las Vegas, Nevada. He achieved a certificate of graduation from Variety School, through Las Vegas High School.
Throughout Bob's life his love for dogs turned to agility sports, obedience training and volunteer dog therapy work. He showed his talent in the arena as his dogs won many awards and ribbons. Two of his beloved dogs, Bud and Max were therapy dogs who wagged their way into many hearts and loving arms at various hospitals and care centers.
Bob moved to St. George, Utah in 2004 where he quickly fell in love with the game of golf. He joined the Special Olympics, competing in golf where he took a "trip of a lifetime" to Lincoln Nebraska. Bringing home the Silver Medal delighted him like no other. He also enjoyed bowling and the many friendships that have come into his life through the Special Olympics.
Bob is survived by his mother Barbara Pugsley, brothers Richard (Rose) Pugsley of Pensacola, and David (Nanette) Pugsley of St. George. Nieces and nephews: Nannette (Scott) McDonald of St. George, Joy (Ian) Rineer of Las Vegas, Janae (Parry) Shields of San Francisco, Kyle (Sarah) Pugsley of Los Angeles and Tricia (Jon) McKean of Columbus. He was the proud uncle of three great nephews: Ryan (Lisa) McDonald, Cooper Shields, and Mason Rineer. He was preceded in death by his father, Dewey Pugsley.
Bob's life was never easy and too short for many but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Bob taught us all the value of perseverance and of making the most out of what life gives you. We look forward to the day when we will see him again.
