Robert “Robbi” Kay Papworth, age 55, passed away on August 29, 2026, at his home in St. George, Utah.

He was born on January 12, 1971, in Utah County to Robert Covey Papworth and Christine Madsen Papworth. He was their first child and shared a birthday with his grandfather and namesake L. Kay Madsen, who just passed away Dec. 10, 2025. They’re together as we speak.

Rob was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His family moved to Phoenix when he was 5, then back to Sandy, Utah. When he was 12 years old the family moved to Manteca, Ca and he lived there throughout high school and attended and graduated from East Union High School in Manteca. He was on the high school golf team and loved golfing with his brother, Tyler, and his father and friends so very much. He attended one semester of college and then served a mission for the Church to Oklahoma. Rob married and had his four beautiful daughters before he and their mother divorced after 20 years of marriage. Oh my, they made stunningly beautiful children. Oh, how he loved them.

Rob was hardworking and a loyal employee. He always went the extra mile for the companies and people he worked for and taught his children great work ethic by example. He loved to golf, go on family outings, dance, sing and joke. He served in the church as elders quorum president several times.

On March 25, 2022, Rob married his beloved wife, Elizabeth Papworth. Together, they shared a life filled with love, family, laughter, and memories that Elizabeth and those closest to him will forever cherish. He loved and was loved by Liz’s daughter and family as well.

Anyone who knew Robbi knew that laughter was never far behind him. He had an amazing sense of humor and a gift for making the people around him laugh—or, just as often, roll their eyes. He could quote a movie at seemingly any moment, always managing to find the perfect line for the situation. Those quotes, jokes, and perfectly timed comments became part of who he was and who we all ended up being because of him. He was a pun-master…to the chagrin of many and delight of all! These are memories his family and friends will continue to smile about for years to come.

Robbi’s love for BYU football was no secret. Game days meant something special to him, and his passion for the Cougars was unmistakable. After his move to St George every game day was spent with his Mom and Dad cheering on the Cougars. So fun!!! His Celebration of Life is scheduled early on Saturday, Sept 5, to be sure he and we can watch the first game of the season. No, we’re not kidding. Haha

His children and grandchildren held an incredibly special place in his heart. He loved being a father and grandfather, and the pride and love he had for his family could be seen by anyone who knew him. The memories he created with them—the big moments as well as the ordinary ones—will now become treasured pieces of the legacy he leaves behind.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Papworth; his daughters, Kameryn Denny and her husband, Anthony Denny; Alexis Papworth; Madison Papworth; Savannah Beck and her husband, Hewstyn Beck; and Luanna Armitage and her husband, Alex Armitage.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Isabella, Raelynn, Beckham, Ronan Denny, Aaliyah, Jordan, and Junior Armitage; his parents, Robert Covey Papworth and Christine Madsen Papworth; his brother, Tyler Papworth; and his sister, Wendy Papworth. Also survived and loved by all of the cousins and aunts and uncles, who helped shape his life and adored him. He loved you all so much!

Robbi’s passing leaves an emptiness that words cannot adequately describe. Yet there are pieces of him that will remain everywhere—in a perfectly timed movie quote, the excitement of a BYU football game, the crack of thunder during a storm, a cold Dr Pepper, and especially in the laughter of the family he loved so deeply.

His daughter Kameryn “Kami” Denny shared these words for her dad:

“Dad, I’ll find you in every BYU game, every thunderstorm, every Dr Pepper, and every laugh that reminds me of you. I’ll miss you for the rest of my life, but I’ll carry you with me through all of it.”

His daughter Savannah Beck shared:

“I will always remember him through music. He always loved music; sending me songs he thinks I would like. When we were younger, he bought a sound system for his car. We would go on drives and blast it as loudly as we could. I will forever miss him and will find him in every song.”

His daughter Alexis “Lexi” Papworth shared:

“I wish I could have had more time with you but will be forever grateful for the time that we did have together. There are going to be many milestones that you won’t get to be here for but I will make sure that you are a part of them anyway. I will look for you in everything I do. I miss you and love you so much.”

“Dad, it feels like you’ll be deeply missed as a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. His humor will be remembered, his stories will continue to be told, his movie quotes will undoubtedly continue to be repeated, and the love he gave his family will remain with them for the rest of their lives.

His sister- Wendy shares this- My brother, my friend. Thank you for the music, the conversations, the brotherly/sisterly bond that will forever be unbroken. I love you always.

Mom and Dad say: Our dearest first-born baby with beautiful blue eyes! Oh, how we loved you and cherished you. Though it was much too soon to leave us, you are now stress-free and in peace. Oh, how I loved singing to you and with you. Oh, how I will miss that every day. The twinkle in your eyes, your gorgeous bass voice, your loving personality and warm smile now shine for Grandma and Grandpa and all the angels in heaven…because now you are one of them. Wyoming is your resting place and Heaven is your home. But you will always and forever reside in our hearts…until we meet again.

Rest peacefully, Rob. You gave us a lifetime of reasons to laugh, memories to hold onto, and love that will never leave us.
