St. George, UT - Robert Edward Samar, 73, passed away on January 21, 2022, at St. George Regional Hospital. He was born on May 6, 1948, in Williamsport, PA to Beatrice A. Stecker and Robert L. Samar. He is married to Ellen Dore. They were married in Rutherford, NJ on May 4,1991.

Robert was raised in Williamsport, PA. He graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in 1970 with a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering. He earned his Master of Science in Engineering and Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin. During his life he resided in Pennsylvania, Texas, Mississippi, Colorado, Arizona, and Utah.

Robert worked in the medical device industry. He worked at COBE Laboratories in Lakewood, CO. in the Quality Assurance department. He retired from W.L Gore, Flagstaff, Arizona in 2013.

Robert enjoyed playing his guitar, taking photographs of nature and family, learning about photoshop, hiking, biking, and spending time with his dogs.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen Dore; his children: Amy Samar, Fort Collins, Colorado, Zack Samar, Aurora, Colorado, and Taylor Mayton and husband Jacy Mayton, Washington, Utah; and grandchildren: Maya and Eli Mayton.

A Celebration of Robert's Life will be held Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., with a visitation prior at 9:00 a.m., at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd, St George, Utah 84770. Interment will be held at the Washington City Cemetery, 300 Park View Drive, Washington, Utah 84780.
