St. George, Utah - Robert Warner Terrill, 73, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011 in St. George, Utah, as a result of a stroke he had suffered following bypass surgery in 2003. The son of Harry and Josephine Terrill, he was born December 4, 1937, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, but grew up in Los Angeles and Riverside, California. He played football at Poly High in Riverside, with his father cheering on his side lines. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army where he served as a tank commander. In 1957, he married Jeannette Hamson by whom he had three children: Monica, Arthur and Jeffrey. They were sealed in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. The marriage later ended in divorce. Bob attended Utah State University and then moved to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. During the six years that he lived there, he met and married Patricia Pierson. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in 1965, and were the parents of eight additional children: Patricia, Gregory, Diana, Rebecca, Jennifer, Deborah, Christopher and Katherine. Bob helped raise all eleven of his children and loved his large family. He remarked once that he wishes he had a few more. His hobbies included family history research, gardening, snow and water skiing, leather working, raising and riding horses - especially Appaloosa and Morgans - and serving on the board of Color Country Paint Horse Club. A life long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many capacities, including: Seventies Group Leader, High Councilor and Bishop of Yucaipa, California, The Third and Fourth Wards. He had just retired, and with his wife, was preparing to serve a mission when he suffered his debilitating stroke. However, he served an eight year mission of courage, love, dignity and grace until last Saturday when he was released from this mortal life.
