Obituary

Hurricane, Utah - Robin "Rob" Ray Smith was called home on October 19, 2022, in St George, Utah after a heroic battle with end stage Renal failure and ultimately suffered cardiac arrest at the tender age of 61. He was surrounded by loving family.

Rob was born on August 17, 1961, to Dorwinna Mae and Gerald Ray Smith in Lebanon, Oregon. He attended school at Lebanon Union High school and graduated in 1979. He proudly served his country retiring from the USAF after 20 years in 2001 and continued serving as a contractor with a US defense company as a site manager for L3 Harris. He loved this country and was so honored to fight for our freedom!

He married the love of his life whom he'd been close friends with since high school, Vikki Darby, on October 18, 1998, in Newport Oregon. He cherished his kids, grandkids and fur babies and would have lived forever for them if he could.  He loved all things outdoors…ATV's, guns, golf, fishing, and hunting.  He had a special heart for veterans and planned to volunteer in some way to help them upon his retirement.  He and Vikki had just bought their dream retirement home in   Hurricane UT where they were making plans to enjoy their retirement years.

Rob is preceded in death by his mother, Dorwinna Mae Smith. He is survived by his wife, Vikki Smith; father, Gerald Smith (wife Phyllis); children: Jennifer Zesiger, (husband Chad), Erika Bybee (husband Jerred Kisling), Ryan Smith (wife Adri), Erika Smith, and Morgan Toroni (husband Gary); and grandchildren: Landon, Mia, Alexa, Mason, Kashton, Brody, Aniya, Krew, McKenzie, Rylie, and Fynlie. Papa Rob meant so much to all of them!

Interment and Final Honors Ceremony with 21gun salute and taps will be held at the Willamette National Cemetery in Happy Valley, Oregon.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in memory of Rob be made to Fetch Fido a Flight, https://www.fetchfidoaflight.com/ or The Wounded Warriors Project, https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/ .
