St. George, UT - Romaine Arthur Burton was born to Arthur L. and Ruby M. Burton on January 19, 1943 in Kearney, Nebraska. He moved with his family many times finally settling in Salt Lake City for most of his young years. He relocated to Southern Utah to be near his parents after their retirement. There he met the love of his life, LeeAnn Hutchinson. He was a kind and loving man, sharing his love, compassion, and talents with any who he felt was in need. He loved building and working with his hands, the outdoors, and traveling to new places and meeting new people. There wasnt anything he could not do. He taught himself many trades and became accomplished in most, if not all, of them. Romaine broke his earthly bonds and began his eternal journey on the morning of July 1, 2010, after losing the war with his personal nemesis, Esophageal Cancer. He fought valiantly and hard to the very end. The Lord lifted him up, eased his pain and welcomed him home along with those who have gone before. He will be missed tremendously every day for the rest of the earthly lives of those he leaves behind. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 29 years, LeeAnn Hutchinson Burton; his mother, Ruby Burton; sister, Arlene Kesler (Gene); brother, Ronald M. Burton; children: Shellie D. Burton, Shawn T. Burton (Amanda), Justin J. Rutherford (Tammie); and grandchildren: Arthur T. Burton (Eden), Shantell Jex, Raegan L. Rutherford, and Zachary J. Rutherford. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur L. Burton; grandparents; and many of his aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. Visitation will be held Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Mortuary, prior to services. Interment will be held Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at the Kanosh Cemetery, Kanosh, Utah.
