Obituary

Roscoe Dean Titensor passed away in Washington, Utah on April 25, 2025, at the age of 96. Dean was born on January 20, 1929, in Etna, Wyoming to Roscoe Titensor and Elnor Bishop Titensor. He grew up in Star Valley as the eldest of seven children. He had a cherished childhood alongside his siblings: Verna, Marilyn, ElRay, Luana, Ellen, and Julia.

Dean graduated from Utah State University, where he met the love of his life, Gayla Stevens. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple in 1953 and shared 69 wonderful years together before losing sweet Gayla in 2022. They lovingly raised six children, Steven (Geri), Carolanne (Mike), Thomas (Teri), David (Lisa), Amy (Dan) and Angela (Aaron).

Dean was a stalwart member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He blessed the lives of so many through serving in various callings, including Bishop of the West Bountiful 8th Ward. As a young man, he served in the Eastern States Mission and later in life, he served four more missions with his sweetheart, Gayla. Dean was also an avid Indexer and had a goal of indexing 500,000 entries before he died. He ended up finishing over 750,000.

Dean traveled all over the world as he served in the Air Force, his missions and work experience. During his career, he contributed to the construction of various buildings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including a remodel of the Laie Hawaii Temple. As missionaries, Dean and Gayla oversaw the building of the Adalaide Australia Temple which they considered a distinct blessing and was one of their cherished life experiences.

Dean was an amazing son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. His memory will be cherished by his 6 children and their spouses, 32 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and his 1 great-great-granddaughter, soon to be born in May. Dean was preceeded in death by his beloved wife, Gayla; his parents, Roscoe and Elnor; siblings, Verna, ElRay, and Luana. He was also preceeded in death by his son, Tom.

He had three goals before he left us:

1. Matching his grandpa Bishop's age of 96.

2. Be here when his son, Steve, and daughter-in-law, Geri, return home from their mission.

3. Get a 5-generation picture once his first great-great grandbaby was born (in May 2025).

Two out of three is pretty good.
