LaVerkin, Utah – Ross Bowen, 90, passed away March 3, 2025. He was born November 7, 1934, in Lyman, Idaho to Mack Merideth and Elva Arnold Bowen.
Ross attended school in Lyman and Rexburg, Idaho. He married Melda Rainey on May 16, 1952 and later divorced in February 1978. He married Virginia Harshman Bezyack on December 9, 1978.
Ross worked on the family farm while attending school and later went to work for Jack & Jeans Bakery in Idaho Falls and Boise, Idaho where he learned the trade of baking.
In 1962, Ross moved to Ogden, Utah to work for Eddy's Bakery as a salesman and later was promoted to sales manager for the Ogden Bakery. In 1972, he began working for Nalley's Fine Foods as a sales representative for the Utah, Wyoming, and Nevada areas.
In 1977 he returned to Eddy's Bakery as the manager of the Ogden and Salt Lake areas and was later transferred to Billings, Montana as their plant operations manager. Eddy's Bakery sold their bakeries to Interstate Bakeries, Corp., where he worked for a short period.
Ross went to work for Dunford Bakery when Interstate Bakery asked him to manage their operations in Montana, Wyoming, and parts of Idaho. He retired in January 1998.
After retirement, Ross moved to LaVerkin, Utah where he worked with his brother, Gerald in Real Estate.
Ross is survived by his children: Michael Ross (Sherry) Bowen, Gordon Russell (Kathy – deceased) Bowen, Debora (Joey) Summerhays, and Kevin Robert (Stephanie) Bezyack; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; 5 brothers; 1 sister.
A visitation will be held Monday March 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. A Graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the St. George City Cemetery located 650 North Tabernacle Street.
