IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ross Burdell
Elliott
May 11, 1941 – June 12, 2025
Ross Burdell Elliott, age 84, of St. George, Utah, passed away peacefully at home on June 12, 2025, with his family surrounding him. He was born on May 11, 1941, in his family home in Farmington, Utah to Walter and Earlene Bray Elliott. He married Kathleen Call on February 28, 1964, in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Ross was raised in Farmington, Utah, as the fourth of five children. He was a curious and lively child who often got into mischief. He was raised on a dairy farm, which taught him the value of hard work, a trait he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He played many sports at Davis High School. He then served a mission to the East Central States Mission. Mainly serving in West Virginia and Kentucky. Upon returning home, he went to BYU majoring in Business Finance, where he met and married the love of his life, Kathleen Call. After graduation, he went to work for the State of Utah working his way up to the Director of Utah State Parks and Recreation. Some of his favorite parks that he helped establish are Bear Lake, Antelope Island, Snow Canyon, Wasatch Mountain, and many golf courses and parks across the state. His passions were golfing, baseball, pheasant hunting, raising cattle, and growing the best sweet corn in the state of Utah! He also loved his dogs, vacations in the motorhome to Canada with his kids, and his cars. But, his greatest passion of all was his wife and family. He was the proud father of six daughters, two sons, 19 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Elliott; children: Shay (Jason) Davis, Sonja (Cory) Stokes, Malinda (David) Tucker, Ross (Krislyn) Elliott, Heather (Clay) Bloxham, Stephanie (Micah) Player, Randy (Julia) Elliott, Megan (Kyle) Brooksby; 19 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brother Max Elliott. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Gary and Norman; and his sister, Trudy.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. A viewing will be held on Monday, prior to services, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
