St. George, Utah - Roy Estes Brockman, Jr. passed away at the age of 96 in his St. George home on Tuesday, November 3, 2009. Estes was born October 17, 1913 in Eccles, West Virginia to parents, Roy Brockman, Sr. and Annie Grace Brockman. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Glenna, of St. George; daughter, Beverly (Gordon) Haines of St. George, niece Carol Camelo of Quincy, Massachusetts and nephew Dana Prilliman of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Estes is preceded in death by his parents and sisters Mary Lee Taylor and Grace Prilliman. Estes attended Concord College in Athens, West Virginia, received his Bachelors Degree from Berea College, Berea, Kentucky and his Masters Degree from West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia. In addition to teaching English, his career also included inspector for the Atlantic Smokeless Coal Company and distributor for Shell Oil Company. Later he was employed as Assistant Clerk of the Circuit Court for Seminole County in Florida as Statistician until his retirement in 1986. He was an active member of the Kiwanis Club and Methodist Mens Club in Florida before moving to Utah in 2000. He was a member of Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church, located at 920 Tonaquint Drive, St. George, Utah, where a memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in Sanford, Florida at a later date.
