St. George, Utah - Our beloved father and grandfather, Russel Max Goodman, passed away onApril 5, 2014. He was born in Magna, Utah on February 17, 1921 to James Russell Goodman and June Rohana Carter Goodman

Russ graduated from Cyprus High School and Utah State University as an engineer. He joined the Navy and served in the Pacific during World War II. He retired as a Commander after serving 30 years. On May 22, 1943, he married his best friend and soul mate, Evah Leora Mitchell. Together they raised two daughters, Rohana Lee Goodman Parker and Ronda Maxine Goodman. They moved from Salt Lake City to Pocatello, ID where they also enjoyed a summer home at Island Park Reservoir. Together they spent many days boating and fishing there. They enjoyed traveling around the world together after their retirement. In 2013 he returned to Salt Lake to be with family.

He is survived by his daughters, Rohana and Ronda, five grandchildren: Jodi, JaNae, Trista, Evah, and Corbin, his brother James Gary Goodman (RaVae), sister-in-law Rose Goodman, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and brother Eugene Carter Goodman.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 1:00 p.m., with a viewing at 12:00 p.m. at the Alta View LDS Ward Chapel, 1950 East Viscounti Dr (8600 South/Highland Dr), Sandy, UT.

Graveside services will be held Friday, April 11, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. George City Cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday, prior to the services, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah.
