Gone Fishin

Vancouver, WA - Russell Dean Hunt was born on December 13, 1950 in Cedar City, UT, the second son of John Reed and Mary Hunt of Enterprise, Utah. Russ passed away peacefully April 30th, 2010 in Vancouver, WA where he was residing. He was an accomplished musician, especially on the trumpet. He was an excellent truck driver. He always kept his trucks clean as a whistle inside and out and in perfect working condition. He was an avid fisherman and deer hunter. He loved children and they loved him. He served a 2 year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ireland and was known as the Pied Piper of Belfast because the children followed him everywhere. He was well versed in the scriptures, philosophy, the sciences and history and could provide the answers to any question posed in those areas. He loved and respected the Native American people and knew much of their traditions, ceremonies and culture. He loved hunting arrowheads, shards of pottery and ancient writings as he hiked and hunted in the deserts and hills. Russ would make conversation and eventually friends with anyone he met and possessed no prejudice for their race, rank or station in life. He was the father of one beautiful daughter, Apryle Lee Hunt, who was his one true joy. He is survived by his daughter Apryle (James) of Henderson, Nevada, his mother of Enterprise, three brothers: Douglas (Janet) of Central Valley, Utah, Steven (Randi) of Santa Clara, Utah, Raynel (Meshelle) of Camas, Washington, one sister, MaRee (Blane) Farnsworth of Enterprise, Utah and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends far and wide. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 10th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Enterprise Stake Center on 100 S. Center Street in Enterprise, Utah. Due to Mothers Day, there will be no visitation in St. George on Sunday evening. A visitation will be held on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the Stake Center. Interment willbe at the Enterprise City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
