Obituary

Veyo, Utah - Ruth Zohner Leavitt, a woman of exceeding faith and exceptional love, returned to her heavenly home on April 26, 2016.

Ruth was born November 28, 1934 in St. George, Utah, She was the third child of John Henry and Nina Lemmon Zohner.

Ruth loved her five siblings dearly and remained in close contact with Dahl, Jerry, David, Elna and Tonia throughout her life. She was named in memory of Nina's beloved younger sister who passed away when Nina was 16.

Ruth enjoyed a close and loving relationship with her Lemmon relatives, especially her grandparents, David William and Rozett Gifford Lemmon. Their strength and living testimonies of the Gospel of Jesus Christ were foundational in the development of her own rock-solid testimony of the Savior. Ruth's testimony led her to a lifetime of activity in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and unceasing service to church and family.

Ruth married Lloyd McArthur Leavitt on September 21, 1950 in the St. George LDS Temple. They have enjoyed more than 65 years of adventure together and find hope and peace in the promise of an eternity of wedded bliss. They are the parents of 12 children: Jeri (Scott), Sheila (Ray), Lem (Laura), Cynthia, Lisa (Rob), Amy (Richard), Eva, Valerie, Luke (Diana), Florence (Phil), Abigail and Bradley (Emma). They have 43 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.

Ruth considered the raising of her family to be her greatest accomplishment and was especially grateful for the blessing of caring for Cynthia, whose special needs brought an extra measure of love, learning and joy into her family.

Ruth was skilled, intelligent and hardworking. She was employed by the Church Physical Facilities Department for over 30 years prior to her retirement in 1995. She was an avid reader, always seeking new information and learning how to use the latest technologies. Ruth Leavitt was loved tremendously and will be missed more than words can express.

Ruth is preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Linda; daughter, Abigail and son-in-law, Rob.
