St. George, UT – Ruth McIntire of St George, UT, finally graduated from this life after 96.5 wonderful years on August 17, 2018.

She was just 70 years old when she moved to St. George with her beloved husband, Bill. He passed away shortly after their move, and Ruth was left to build a new life without him.

She filled the next 26 years with love and service and accomplishment. She joined the Historical Society and guided tours throughout historical St George. She worked on the restoration of the old Opera House and, with the help of others, assembled a beautiful tribute quilt which is housed there.

Ruth worked at the St George Temple under the direction of 5 different temple presidencies, reluctantly leaving her assignment when she was 93.

The basement of her townhouse was home to the Dixie Quilt Guild's Philanthropy group for years, which made hundreds of quilts for veterans, hospitals, shelters, charities and organizations around the world. She organized shipments of school supplies for kids in Afghanistan, served as a guide at Tuacahn, and enjoyed season tickets to local concert series. Ruth's hands were in constant motion, working magic with fabric and yarn and needle and thread. Her quilts, which number in the hundreds, bring comfort and beauty to all who have one.

Ruth was alert and busy to the very end, completing her last quilting masterpiece on Monday , finishing the daily Spectrum crossword puzzle on Thursday , and peacefully slipping away from us on Friday . She leaves an obviously adoring family, and so many friends who became family. Ruth became a master at life. Filling the void she leaves, will be the next great challenge. She leaves behind so many people who love her. What a wonderful life!
