IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ruth L.
Ross
October 10, 1925 – March 25, 2021
St. George, Utah - Ruth L. Ross passed away on March 25, 2021 in St George, UT where she had lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Genie and Ray Kuehne, since 2017. Ruth was born October 10, 1925 in Huntington Park, CA. Her parents were Larry L. Kitching and Gertrude M. Reese.
In June 1944, Ruth married Eugene (Gene) Hoskins, an Air Force pilot who died in an airplane crash in December 1944. Their daughter, Genie, was born in May 1945
Ruth married Donald Ross in May 1946. He was an Air Force pilot who had been shot down and imprisoned in Germany during WW II. Ruth and Donald had a daughter, Robin, who died in 2015. Donald died in 2016.
As an Air Force officer's wife, Ruth lived in several U.S states and in Thailand, South Vietnam, Taiwan, and Japan. She will be buried next to her husband and daughter Robin in Carson City, Nevada.
Ruth was a dedicated Christian, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved flowers, kept her own flower garden, and read her scriptures daily. She created beautiful unique Christmas trees, even some decorated primarily with dried flowers and seeds gathered from her yard.
No matter where Ruth was, she found beauty. She said it was a gift from her mother, a gift she passed on to her daughters and grandchildren. As an Air Force wife, she moved everyone or three years. She recorded in her Journal of Gratitude, "I regret that I did not have a place where I could have had a flower garden to tend. I realize now just how much I truly love having and working with flowers." Her work with flowers brought joy to all around her.
She enjoyed cooking, and right up to the day before she passed away, she was making wonderful meals for her family.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Genie; her sister, Loris Cavendish; five living grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.
She will be missed and loved forever.
