Hurricane, Utah - Rylee Sage Backus passed away unexpectedly Saturday April 22, 2023, at Little Sahara Sand Dunes in Juab County, Utah, surrounded by family and friends.

She was born February 4, 2023, to Logan Backus and Leah Basse in Hurricane, Utah. She entered this world during a time of need and brought so much love and happiness to her family.

During her short time here, Rylee was able to live an adventurous life. She traveled with her parents to Texas and Arizona where she was showered with love by everyone around her.

Rylee Sage Backus, a precious soul who touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. Although her time with us was brief, she brought boundless joy to her parents and family during her short life. Rylee Sage was a bright and happy baby, who loved to be naked, with a contagious smile that could light up a room. She will always be remembered for her infectious laughter and her unwavering spirit.

We mourn the loss of such a beautiful and innocent life, but we take solace in the knowledge that Rylee Sage is now at peace and in a better place. May her memory live on in the hearts of those who loved her, and may she rest in eternal peace.

Rylee is survived by her parents; brothers: Brayden and Connor; great grandma, Susan Stranne; grandparents: Brent (Ragen) Backus, Carri (Christopher) Connors, Rick (Jane) Swartz; uncles: Cody (Kiersten) Backus, Jordan (Natalie) Backus, Ryan (Sidni Foss) Swartz; and several cousins who loved and adored her.

A viewing will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Metcalf Hurricane Valley Mortuary, 140 North Main Street, Hurricane, Utah. A burial will take place for immediate family only.
