Obituary

Washington, Utah - Samuel Robert Gunter, 84, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2013. He was born April 20, 1928 in Mt. Emmons, Utah to Samuel Gunter and Elsie Wright Gunter. He married his sweetheart, Karma Gayle Morrison on October 16, 1952 in Duchesne, Utah.

Sam served his country proudly in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was also past commander of the Duchesne American Legion, Post 22.

He worked 35 years for the Utah Department of Transportation and was a member of the Elks for 25 years. He joined The Old Time Fiddlers 35+ years ago and enjoyed playing his guitar and singing with them. His favorite times were summers spent hunting, camping and fishing with family and friends. He loved gardening and was proud of his flower and vegetable gardens

Sam was the worlds best husband, dad, grandpa and friend. We will all miss him dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Karma; children: Mike (Elaine) Gunter of Roosevelt, UT, Cindy (Lew) Warren of Riverton, UT, Patrick (Martha) Gunter of Orem, UT; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren plus two on the way.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, Utah. Friends can visit one hour prior to services. Interment will be held in the Utahn Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Sam to Autism Speaks of Utah and The Special Olympics.
