Ivins, Utah - Sandra A. Ransom, 57, passed away April 21, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family after suffering for six long years with pain. She was born September 14, 1953 in Ogden, Utah, a daughter of Blaine Holliday Atkinson and Elaine Bell Atkinson. She was raised and educated in Kanesville and Ogden, Utah, where she graduated from Weber High School, LDS Seminary and attended Weber State College. On February 1, 1974, she married Ross V. Ransom in the Ogden LDS Temple. Sandy lived in many places, including: Ogden, Utah; Turlock, California; Castle Dale, Utah; Orangeville, Utah; St. George, Utah; Bloomington Hills, Utah; and Ivins, Utah. She was a secretary at Cameo Florist, where she loved to occasionally arrange flowers. She also worked as Head Secretary at Red Mountain Elementary School and loved all the kids and teachers she came in contact with. Sandy also served on the Ivins City Council for two years. Sandy was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for her whole life. She served many callings, both ward and stake levels, including: Primary, Relief Society, Young Womens, Cub Scouts and Visiting Teacher. Her favorite callings involved Primary Children. Sandy had great faith in her Heavenly Father and smiled through troubles and tribulations. She was grateful to be a Daughter of the Utah Pioneers. She had a great zest for life and cared deeply for others. She had many friends and enjoyed doing things with her family. Sandys nickname was Smiley and she always had a smile and a kind word. Everyone she met became an instant friend to her. She was very selfless and loved to serve others. She liked to crochet, knit, cross stitch and any craft-like project. She also enjoyed reading and seeking knowledge. She had five grandchildren whom she loved very much. She always looked forward to and enjoyed their visits. Sandy is survived by her husband, Ross V. Ransom; her children: Jerry (Lori) of Hurricane, Utah, Janel (Chuck) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Layne (Debany) of West Jordan, Utah, April (engaged to Tanner) of St. George, Utah and Bryce (Chanae) of Washington, Utah; and five grandchildren. She is also survived by her father, Blaine Holliday Atkinson; and brothers: Mike Atkinson of Ogden, Utah, Brent Atkinson of Brookside, Utah and Jeff Atkinson of Ogden, Utah. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ivins LDS Ward Chapel, 625 East Center Street, Ivins, Utah. A visitation will be held prior to services on Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Chapel. Interment will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the West Weber Cemetery in Ogden, Utah, where she will be buried next to her mother and many other loved ones.
