Obituary

Toots Scott Clark Peterson, age 57, passed away with his family by his side on the night of December 31, 2010. He concluded his 13 month battle with brain cancer in peace and with love in his heart. Scottie was born on June 29, 1953 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lloyd and Mayme Peterson. Even though his older brother, Larry took one look at his hair, assumed he was an Indian, and told his parents to TAKE HIM BACK! , he knew that later in life him and Scott would grow to be best friends. Scott spent his childhood amusing his family and friends with his sense of humor and energetic ways. He graduated from South High School in 1971. He then married Debra Eskelsen in 1973. They had a beautiful baby girl, Melissa Ann, soon after. Over the next few years, Scott made a living as a glazer for several different glass companies. He then joined the Army and served in the Korean from 1976 to 1978. He always had a passion for sports and learned to love golf even more later in life. Scott soon knew everything about the game, including how to cut clubs and where every course was located. He even started collecting golf balls from every course he played with his family and friends. His passion for golf motivated his success as a businessman when he owned and operated Herriman Golf. He custom-made clubs and gave advice about the game to all of his loyal customers while he was there. In 1999, Scott married Diana Adams and was blessed with two step-sons, Matt and Wayne. He then moved to St. George, Utah where he began working for Harmons in the meat department. While in St. George, Scott found a passion for reading, collectibles, and sagas. He became the go-to guy on any and every useless trivia question you had. Scottie became truly blessed when his daughter gave birth to his grandson, Jamison in 2009. He was able to spend time playing with him this past summer and spent multiple hours interacting with him and his parents over Skype. This past holiday season was a time that Scott spent with all of his family together and truly cherished his time with Melissa, Tim and Jamison. He always cared for his family and knew that they loved him with all their hearts. Scott is survived by his wife, Diana; his daughter, Melissa (Tim) Beard; grandson, Jamison Timothy Beard; his mother, Mayme Haycock Peterson; his brothers: Larry (Valerie) Peterson and Paul (Annette) Peterson; step-son, Matthew (Erica) Adams; nieces: Nikki and Amanda Peterson; and nephew, Alex Peterson. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Vaughn Peterson and his step-son, David Wayne Adams. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 7, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Parleys LDS Stake Center, 1870 East Parleys Canyon Blvd., Salt Lake City, Utah. Visitations will be held Thursday, January 6th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Stake Center, prior to services. Interment will be held Friday at 12:30 p.m. at the Herriman City Cemetery.
