Obituary

St George City – Our beloved, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Sharon Beeston Brooks, of St. George, Utah, passed away from cancer March 17, 2023.    Sharon was the eighth child of nine children born to Thomas and Vera Beeston in Provo, Utah on January 1, 1972.  Sharon was the first new year's baby born in Utah County that year.  Growing up Sharon loved the outdoors and any hike she could take, even difficult ones. Sharon's favorite class in high school was Unified Studies which was a hiking and adventure class.

Sharon married Jason Bennett Brooks March 14, 1992, in the St. George LDS Temple.   They later realized that it was Pi Day (3.14) and celebrated with delicious pie from that time on.

Sharon grew up in Orem, Utah and graduated from Orem High School in 1990.  After high school graduation Sharon attended Dixie Jr. College where she received an Associates of Science degree and met and married Jason Brooks.   After Dixie College graduation, Jason and Sharon moved to Cedar City to attend SUU.  Sharon graduated from SUU with a degree in Elementary Education with a minor in child development and reading.  Upon graduation Sharon and Jason moved to St. George where they have lived ever since.

Sharon had a love for children and opened an in-home daycare and preschool she named Koala-Time because of her love of koala bears.   When all her children were old enough to attend school all day, Sharon became a substitute teacher mainly subbing at East Elementary where her children attended.  In 2013 Sharon was hired as a computer lab assistant at Dixie High School which later transitioned into a library assistant position.  Sharon worked at Dixie High School until 2022.

Sharon was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was often found reading and studying gospel principles.  Sharon had a special ability to always see the good in others and make them feel welcomed.

Sharon is survived by her husband; six of her siblings and sister-in-law:   Cindy Beeston (Rod deceased) Logan, Utah, Ralph Beeston (Denise) Tucson, Arizona, Andra Stokes (Ray) Saratoga Springs, Utah, Bruce Beeston (Carolyn) Syracuse, Utah, Keith Beeston (Jeri) Orem, Utah, VaNae Flake (Read) Houston, Texas, Janell Taylor (Aaron) Columbus, Ohio.  Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Tom (2017), Vera (2018); and siblings: Rod Beeston (2018) and Maureen Beeston (2012).

Sharon is the mother of five children: Austin Bennett Brooks (Hannah), Joshua Paul Brooks (Kirsten), Megan Rose Brooks, Bryan Thomas Brooks, and Bethany Ann Brooks; and grandmother of Autumn Shipley and Aiden Shipley.

The Brooks family would like to thank Dixie Hospice, nurses, and aides, for the amazing loving service, Dr. Derrick Haslam and Matt Lundin for their infectious positive attitude, and Dr. Joy Welsh for her thoughtful care throughout the years.
