Obituary

St. George, UT - Sharon Reber Thompson, age 70, passed away June 7, 2010 in St. George, UT. She was born in St. George on March 15, 1940 to Roma Larson and Ellis Verl Reber. She lived with her mother, father and twin sister Karon in Littlefield, Arizona until her father passed away when she was 15 months old. After her Dad's death, Sharon and her family lived on her mother's family ranch on the Beaver Dam Wash until it was time for her to attend school. They moved to St. George and she resided there for the rest of her life. Sharon married her high school sweetheart, Earl "Tank" Thompson. She and Earl raised three children. Sharon loved being a wife and mother. She supported her children and grandchildren in all of their many sports, school and religious activities. Sharon was a wonderful, loving mother, a talented cook and a meticulous homemaker. Sharon was a good student and continued her education throughout her life. She was a waitress for many years at the famous Dick's Cafe. Sharon was an integral part of the Dick's Cafe legacy. Sharon also worked 25+ years as a bank teller beginning her career when Dixie State Bank first opened their doors. She was a hard worker, took pride in doing her very best and loved to work with people. Both of her chosen professions gave her the opportunity to become friends with customers and coworkers alike. Sharon's baking and cooking abilities are legendary. There are many friends and family who will miss her giant plates of cookies, candies and sweet breads at Christmas time. Her acts of love and kindness will be cherished and remembered by family, friends, neighbors and strangers. Sharon was active in Lady Lions and Lady Elks where she served as president in both organizations. She was also active in her community as well as participated for many years on softball and bowling leagues. She loved being involved and busy. Sharon was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served in many positions throughout the years. She had a strong testimony of the Gospel. Sharon is survived by her children: Kenneth (Jan) Thompson, Leslie (Tracy) Ence and Tamra Thompson; sister, Karon (Ralph) Bohn; 7 grandchildren; Justin, Cody, Robyn, Kurtis, Lacey, Lindsey and Brooke and 9 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, mother and father. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 11, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., in the St. George LDS Stake Center, 591 W. 500 N., St. George, UT. A visitation will be held Thursday, June 10, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd, and Friday prior to the services, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the Stake Center. Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary, 435-673-4221.
