St. George, Utah - Our loving mother and grandmother Sherlie Smith Talbot passed away at her home, surrounded by her family, Saturday the 7th of April, 2012 of lung cancer.
Sherlie Smith Talbot was born May 22, 1935 in Cedar City, Utah. She was born to Elden Orton and Remola Chadburn Smith. She married Brent Gale Talbot on the 22nd of August, 1953 in the St. George Utah Temple. Sherlie and Brent worked hard together in their furniture business for almost 40 years. Brent passed away in 1995.
Sherlie is survived by siblings: Sheldon Smith (Luella) of Parowan Utah, Omalee Smith Maxwell (Max) of St. George, Utah, Joan Smith Wardle (Jeff) of Orem, Utah; and her children: Mitzie Rogers (Jeff), Tammie Brooks (George), Natalie Miller, Beckie Barber (Bruce). She has 19 Grandchildren, and 20 Great-Grandchildren.
Sherlie was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in numerous positions in the church. She served 29 years in nursery taking care of primary children, MIA, activities committee, pianist, chorister, church librarian, visiting teaching supervisor, Kolob family home evening planner, and 4H Leader for 27 years.
Sherlie Talbot was a loving Grandmother, Mother, and friend. Every life that she touched felt of her loving character. She was constantly lifting up those around her. We will miss her dearly.
As a family we want to thank Applegate Hospice Care and especially Ann McCallson. We also want to thank the Morningside 2nd ward and all of mom's friends who checked on her and cared for her during her illness.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Morningside LDS 2

Ward Building, 930 Morningside Drive, St. George, Utah. A visitation will be Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 300 West St. George Blvd. and on Saturday, prior to services, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Morningside Chapel. Interment will be in the Parowan City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Sherlie's favorite charity, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Fund.
