Obituary

Santa Clara, Utah - Shirlee Ann Graf Bray passed away November 11, 2012. She was born October 14, 1942, in St. George to Sylvan and Sylva Schow Graf.

She grew up in Santa Clara helping her mother and father in their family business, "The Rose Garden Nursery" next door to their home. She attended school in Santa Clara, went to Woodward and graduated from Dixie High School. She was a member of the first Jettette team. On September 22, 1960, she married Phil Stanley Duncan. They moved to Las Vegas and had two sons, Darrin "Huddy" Phil Duncan and Corey Lance Duncan. They later divorced. On January 18, 1997 she married Larry Bray and they moved into her childhood home in Santa Clara.

In her young married life she worked for various businesses and banks in Las Vegas including the Bank of Las Vegas. She spent many weekends working at Bob Taylor's Gun Club and the Mint Gun Club in Las Vegas. She was employed by McDonalds to deliver employee paychecks to every McDonalds in Las Vegas on payday. She worked for the City of Las Vegas for 10 years.

She enjoyed deer hunting, dove hunting and opening day of fishing season in Utah. She thoroughly loved being in the out of doors and was especially proficient in spotting deer. She bowled in bowling leagues and played on softball and volleyball teams. She enjoyed going to Escalante on the 24th of July to enjoy the festivities and sing with her cousins and family.

After marrying Larry Bray, they honeymooned by going to China where Larry taught English for his final semester. Later they served an LDS Humanitarian Mission in Laos for 22 months, and a welfare mission in South Africa for 18 months.

She was very dedicated and could work very hard for long hours. She liked to have lots of fun and liked to laugh. She enjoyed playing cards with her children and grandchildren.

She loved Santa Clara and the people who lived there. Santa Clara was her home. She was actively involved in Swiss Days and was an original board member of the Samuel Knight Santa Clara History Museum and a member of the Santa Clara Historical Society.

She was loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Shirlee is survived by her husband, Larry Bray; sons: Darrin "Huddy" (Amalia) Duncan of Cedar City and Corey (Emily) Duncan of Las Vegas; step-children: Mary (Eddy) Schumacher, Marc Bray, Stephanie Bray and Ruth Bray; brothers: Garry (Donna) Graf and Don (Patricia) Graf; sisters: Mary (Steve) Sevy, Roberta (Dave) DeCow and Kathryn (Bruce) Pickett; 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 16, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Santa Clara LDS 1 st Ward Chapel, 3040 West Santa Clara Drive, Santa Clara, Utah. Visitations will be held Thursday evening, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd. and on Friday, prior to services, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Chapel. Interment will follow at the Santa Clara City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
