St. George, UT - Shirlee Van Orman McLaren passed away May 23, 2010. She was born June 8, 1947 to Stanley Howard VanOrman and Phyllis Afton Webster Van Orman in Logan, Utah. Shirlee attended Hillcrest High School then went on to attend both Brigham Young University and The Church College of Hawaii. Shirlee was a Flight Attendant with Braniff Airlines for 22 years. After Braniff closed down their operation, she enrolled in nursing school and achieved her LPN. Shirlee married Brian McLaren and they resided in Denver, Colorado for over 20 years. Shirlee and her son, Conan moved to St. George in 1997 where she joined the staff at the St. George Care and Rehab Center. She worked in their Alzheimers Unit, where her kind and loving attitude was truly appreciated by the residents and their families. For the past 8 years, Shirlee had been with the VA Clinic and retired from their service on April 30, 2010. Shirlee was preceded in death by her parents, Stan and Afton VanOrman; her sister, Diane VanOrman Derrick; her ex-husband, Brian McLaren; and her youngest son, Conan Andrew McLaren. She is survived by her son, Greg Griffen; sisters, Pamela Hatch and Terryl Jetter; brother-in-law, Gary Derrick; along with nieces, Lisa Derrick Yahrling and Kelsey Jetter; nephew, Jordan Jetter; and great-niece, Zoe Yahrling. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Ridge Club House, 628 Ridge View Dr., St. George, Utah.
