St. George, Utah - Shirley Fromknecht Wilson passed away March 11, 2022, at the age of 90 after a brief, but courageous battle with ALS. Shirley was born in Huntsville, AL on January 11, 1932. From the age of 3, Shirley was raised in Southern California attending Mark Keppel High School in Alhambra, CA. She married Don Fromknecht Jr. in San Gabriel, CA in March 1950. They raised their family in Southern California residing in West Covina, Glendora and Fullerton. In 1991, they moved to St. George, UT to enjoy the retirement years. In 2012, after nearly 63 years of marriage, Shirley lost Don to his courageous fight with ALS. It was later, when another chapter opened for Shirley as she met and married Don Wilson in January 2019.
Shirley was an accomplished woman, wife and mother. Her life was committed to family, friends and community. Over the years, she was involved and very active in numerous organizations: PTA, Campfire Girls, Cub Scouts, Charter Oak, Jr. Women's Club, Children's Home Society, Garden Club, Salvation Army, Republican Women, Senior Olympics, Ladies of Elks and Church Deacon. Shirley loved music, singing and dancing. She was passionate about life and never wasting a day…using it to accomplish a job or make someone's day brighter.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Don Wilson; and her three children: Christy Dearman of Fullerton, CA, Don Fromknecht III of Helena, MT and Kurt Fromknecht of Santa Ana, CA. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, 611 North 2450 East, St. George, UT.
